Understanding Changes Everything.

We often struggle with one another because we are trying to understand behavior without understanding what is influencing it.

The Center for Relational Understanding brings biology into the conversation. We teach people how biological differences and changes can influence communication, emotions, behavior, and relationships. With that understanding, people can communicate more effectively, respond to one another with greater awareness, and create stronger relationships at home, at work, and in their communities.

Biology Changes the Conversation

The way we communicate is influenced by far more than personality or intention. Biology plays a powerful role in how we process information, experience emotion, respond to stress, and connect with the people around us.

When we bring that knowledge into our relationships, we gain a new way of seeing one another. Reactions begin to make more sense, communication becomes clearer, and differences become something we can work with rather than struggle against.

ABOUT THE CENTER

The Center for Relational Understanding

The Center for Relational Understanding was created around a simple idea: relationships change when we better understand the biology of the people in front of us.

We provide education that helps people understand how biological differences and changes can influence communication, emotions, behavior, stress, and connection.

Our work brings that knowledge into everyday life, including couples, families, workplaces, and communities, giving people practical ways to communicate more effectively and relate to one another with greater understanding.

We believe this knowledge should not belong only to the person experiencing the biology. The people who love them, live with them, work with them, and raise them need a way to understand it, too.

Meet the Founder

My work began with my own search for answers. When I was struggling to understand the hormonal changes happening in my body, I found the work of Dr. Mindy Pelz. For the first time, I was given an explanation of women’s biology and a way forward that I could actually live with.

What I learned changed more than my relationship with my body. It gave me a deep sense of responsibility to help other women understand what is happening within them throughout their lives.

As women’s hormonal health became a growing conversation and more coaches began entering that field, I found myself drawn somewhere different: toward the people who love, live with, work with, and raise women.

In many ways, that direction began years earlier when I was raising my two sons. I read a book about the developmental differences between boys and girls, and what I learned profoundly influenced the way I parented them. Understanding their differences changed my expectations, my responses, and ultimately the way I related to my children.

That same principle is at the heart of the Center for Relational Understanding. When we understand more about the biology of the person in front of us, we have an opportunity to see them differently, communicate differently, and relate to them differently.

The Center grew from my belief that this knowledge shouldn’t belong only to the person experiencing the biology. The people sharing their lives with them need a way to understand it, too.
